Two killed in New Year's Day Lynsted crash New Year Teynham crash: Family tributes to crash pair

Two men in their 20s were killed in a New Year's Day crash on the A2 at Lynsted, near Sittingbourne. Family and friends have paid tribute to two men killed in a crash on the A2 in Kent early on New Year's Day.
Both men were rear-seat passengers in a Renault Clio travelling from the Faversham direction towards Sittingbourne. Karl Buchan, 23, and Michael Shepherd, 27, are believed to be from the Faversham area.
The male driver and female front-seat passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to a London hospital for treatment. The pair have not named by police but friends and family have posted messages of condolence and tributes on social media.
The crash was near the Dover Castle pub at around 01.20 GMT. The crash happened near the Dover Castle Inn in Teynham at around 01:20 GMT on Friday.
Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are carrying out inquiries. The car had been travelling from the direction of Faversham towards Sittingbourne, police said.
The two men were rear-seat passengers in the car. The male driver and female front-seat passenger were taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
