A man was trapped in his bed by a falling tree which smashed through a house roof causing the ceiling to collapse, fire crews have said. A tree trapped a man in his bed after it smashed through his house roof causing the ceiling to collapse, fire crews have said.
The emergency services were called to the property in Mawgan, Cornwall, at 07:05 GMT. A neighbour raised the alarm at about 07:00 GMT and the man was rescued from the property in Mawgan, Cornwall by fire crews and treated by paramedics for minor cuts and bruises.

Power lines were also brought down by the tree. The man was calling for help when fire crews arrived.
'Very shocked' Trapped by trunk
Neighbour Julian Rand said: "The large tree which was standing in the Old Rectory came down and smashed into the garage and house. Mr Rand said: "The large tree which was standing in the Old Rectory came down and smashed into the garage and house.

"He was understandably very shocked." Tolvadden Station Manager, Mark Salter, said the man was in his 50s or 60s and he was "literally just pinned beneath the branches and the tree trunk so he was unable to move".
Fire crews from Helston, Mullion and Tolvaddon attended. Mr Salter said that when crews arrived he was calling for help and had to be freed by firefighters using small hand saws.
He said the man, who has been taken to a local bed and breakfast, had "minor injuries" to his torso and legs and about a third of the roof was damaged and the garage destroyed by the tree.
"Looking at the damage, I'd say it may be sometime before he can get back home," he added.
