Emergency crews have declared a “significant incident” after a crash in London involving a smart car and a double-decker bus which mounted a kerb. Seven people have been taken to hospital after a crash in north London involving a Smart car and a double-decker bus that mounted the kerb.
A number of people were being assessed by medics following the crash which happened at about 7.35am in London Road, Enfield. Emergency services were called to the incident, which happened at about 7.40am on London Road in Enfield. London ambulance service said the first crews to arrive on the scene declared it a significant incident.
The car’s driver had been taken to hospital, the London ambulance service said. Those taken to hospital included a woman with chest injuries, who was transferred as a priority, and a man with neck pain. An ambulance spokesperson said the woman was not thought to be in a critical condition.
Images posted online showed the badly mangled wreckage of the car in the road and the W8 bus on the pavement. A further seven people were treated at the scene for less serious injuries such as cuts and bruises and five were taken to hospital.
The ambulance service tweeted that it had cleared a “significant incident” to which it sent four ambulances, a response paramedic and its hazardous area response team. The ambulance service said it sent a paramedic in a fast response car, four ambulance crews, incident response managers, a hazardous area response team and emergency preparedness teams to the scene.
