Care home staff sacked amid 'dragging patients' claims
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-35362527 Version 0 of 1. Two care home workers were sacked and arrested amid allegations a patient was dragged. The owners of Lodge Lane, in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, said they were suspended in January last year after a colleague reported their behaviour. A 22-year-old woman was dismissed after an inquiry, and a 53-year-old woman was fired and also cautioned by police. Managers of the home said they "take all concerns regarding poor practice very seriously". Run by Creative Assets and caring for patients with learning disabilities, Lodge Lane was inspected by the Care Quality Commission and in a report released last May was found to require improvement in four out of five categories. Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council's cabinet member for adults, said the local authority suspended new referrals to the home while an investigation was under way. "Referrals have now been reinstated, as the care home have demonstrated a continued improvement," he said. |
