A 14-year-old boy has admitted an attack on a football fan that left the victim in a coma for several months.

Watford fan Nic Cruwys, 44, from Hemel Hempstead, was set upon last March as he walked to Wolverhampton railway station with friends following his team's 2-2 draw at Molineux Stadium.

The teenager admitted causing grievous bodily harm at the city's crown court.

Five others, all aged between 15 and 19, denied the same charge and will face trial in August.

Daniel Lloyd, Joseph Lister, and Ryan Meer, all 18, Robert Beech, 19, and a 15-year-old boy are all from Wolverhampton.

The 14-year-old, also from the city and who cannot be named because of his age, will be sentenced after the trial.

He has been prohibited from visiting towns where Wolves are playing as part of his bail restrictions.

Mr Cruwys spent about four months in hospital after suffering a serious head injury.
