Shortbread lorry fire closes M6 near Lancaster
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-35422457 Version 0 of 1. A lorry full of shortbread which caught fire on a motorway would have left its cargo a "tad overcooked", police have said. The vehicle was engulfed by flames after a fuel spillage ignited and spread across the M6 near Lancaster just before 11:00 GMT. Although the biscuits were destroyed, the fire service said the driver was not injured in the blaze. The lorry has been moved to the hard shoulder. All three southbound lanes between junction 34 for Lancaster and junction 33 for Galgate were closed while firefighters tackled the blaze. The motorway is expected to fully reopen later. North West Motorway Police jokingly tweeted the biscuits would be "a tad overcooked". |
