Detectives are hunting gunmen who shot two people in a pub in Salford.

Police were called to the Dog and Partridge pub on Bolton Road, following reports two masked gunmen had run past and fired shots into the premises.

A 50-year-old woman, who was standing at the bar, suffered a gunshot wound to her ankle and a 26-year-old man was shot in the thigh, on Friday night.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

'Terrifying incident'

Police have branded the attack as "terrifying" and are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened just before 2200 GMT.

Detective Inspector Rebekah Sutcliffe said: "This was a terrifying incident and it is fortunate people were not more seriously injured.

"Incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Salford and I'd like to reassure the community there is an increased police presence in the area in response to this.

"We really need to catch these offenders and I would urge anyone who knows their identity to contact us."
