The inquest is expected to last for three days. John Hogan has been receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital near Athens since the court cleared him of murder.
It was found that he was suffering an "earthquake" of psychosis when he took Liam's life.
The inquest, which has now resumed, is expected to last for three days.
