Frozen hoses hamper efforts to fight fierce blaze in Prince George’s
Version 0 of 1. It may be an old story to veterans of wintertime firefighting, but the irony was evident Saturday night when flames and heat poured from a house in Prince George’s County, while efforts to stream water on the blaze were hampered by frozen hoses. The fire and ice juxtaposition occurred around 9 p.m. in the 4900 block of Taylor Road between Kenilworth Avenue and Route One in the Hyattsville Edmonston area. Flames leaped through the windows and ripped through the roof of the upstairs portion of a single family house. No injuries were reported. However, “some frozen hose lines” affected firefighting operations said county fire and ems spokesman Mark E. Brady. |
