Authorities identify driver in fatal Loudoun Co. crash with backhoe
Version 0 of 1. An 18-year-old driver died in a two-vehicle crash involving a backhoe in Loudoun County, Virginia State Police said Tuesday. Authorities identified the teen as Geneva F. Owens of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The collision happened on Monday night along a slick roadway, state police said. Owens was traveling west on Route 7 shortly after 7 p.m., when her 2006 Toyota Matrix rear-ended a backhoe. State Police said the backhoe was traveling west in the right lane near Route 825/Hidden Gap Road. State police said the road was slick at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation. It was one of several fatal accidents in the state on Monday, following a winter storm.
