Version 0 of 1.

An Arlington County woman who woke up early Sunday morning in the back seat of a strange car — without remembering how she got there — was ultimately charged with stealing the vehicle, Arlington County police said.

According to police, the woman went to a restaurant in Rosslyn on Saturday night, then to a nearby Hyatt hotel. She got into a car that was to be parked by a valet and drove off.

After waking up in the car about 1 a.m., at a location that has not been specified, she drove home in the car and went inside to sleep. When she awoke, she called police, who investigated and then charged her with stealing the car, said police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.

Jeff Overand, an attorney representing the woman, said she had “fuzzy memories of what happened.”

She “may have been involuntarily intoxicated,” he said. He added that it is early in the case, and the matter is still being sorted out.
