D.C. police and the FBI are searching for a man who robbed a bank in downtown Washington late Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said man walked into United Bank in the 1600 block of K Street NW, near the Farragut North Metro station, about 4:55 p.m. and handed a teller a demand note. He escaped with money, police said, though they did not divulge the amount.

Police described the man as black, 40 to 50 years old and standing about 6 feet tall. He had a slim build, was clean-shaven and had a medium complexion. Police said he was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark pants and a dark jacket.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 202-727-9099. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and a conviction.
