Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds finished his career this past season as the most statistically decorated player in program history. As a permanent reminder of his legacy, no other player will wear Reynolds’s No. 19 again, Academy superintendent Adm. Ted Carter announced on Sunday night at the team’s annual banquet.

Reynolds becomes the fourth player in school history to be so honored, joining quarterback Roger Staubach (12) and running backs Joe Bellino (27) and Napoleon McCallum (30).

Reynolds, a four-year starter, finished with a 32-13 record for the most wins by a quarterback in school history. He was fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting this season, the highest finish by a service academy player since Staubach won the award in 1963.

“This is quite an honor and something that I never dreamed would happen,” said Reynolds, who holds major college football records for total touchdowns (88) and points (530), among other milestones. “I give all the credit to my teammates. This is a group honor, and without my teammates over the past four years, none of this would have been possible.”

The Midshipmen finished No. 21 in the final College Football Playoff rankings in going 11-2 to set the Navy single-season mark for wins in a season. Navy also won the Military Bowl, beating Pittsburgh, 44-28, for a third straight bowl triumph for the first time in school history.
