A 49-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Shirley Finlay in Ballymena, County Antrim. A 49-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Shirley Finlay in Ballymena two months ago.

The man is due to appear at Larne Magistrates Court on Friday. He also faces a number of other charges. In court was Henrik Gorski, who has an address at Hill Street in Ballymena but is originally from Poland.
Miss Finlay, from Crebilly Road in the town, had been strangled. She was killed just days before her 25th birthday. He has also been charged with raping another woman, indecently assaulting her and threatening to kill her. Mr Gorski spoke only to confirm his name.
He is accused of killing Miss Finlay between 17 and 20 September and attacking the other woman between 3 and 23 August and then again on 15 September.
A detective inspector told the court he had been interviewed 16 times and that he always denied the charges.
However, he said she believed she could connect him to the charges.
The accused was remanded in custody until 7 December.
