Man, woman shot in Southeast Washington

A man and a woman were shot Friday afternoon in Southeast Washington, and one of the victims drove both to a hospital, according to D.C. police.

The male victim was unconscious and not breathing when he arrived at United Medical Center, a police spokesman said. The female victim was not as seriously injured.

Police said the victims showed up at the hospital in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue SE about 2:50 p.m. Dustin Sternbeck, the spokesman, said detectives believe the shooting occurred somewhere on Southern Avenue, but that they were trying to verify the location.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.
