Neighborhood Watch training by Prince William County police’s Crime Prevention Unit will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Western District Police Station, 8900 Freedom Center Blvd., Manassas.

The free training is available to anyone interested in starting a program or those looking for additional training.

Topics will include crime reporting, emergency preparedness and watch patrol.

Michael “Buddy” Lint was recently named the Prince William County school system’s Principal of the Year.

The recognition makes the principal of New Dominion Alternative Center a finalist in the The Washington Post’s Principal of the Year recognition program.

The winner of that award will be announced next month.

Lint has been principal of New Dominion since 2010.

The Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host a free “Financial Fortitude Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at the Realtor Association of Prince William, 4545 Daisy Reid Ave., Woodbridge.

The workshop aims to assist residents with various financial situations, including college preparation and retirement planning.

Franz Rodriquez, a financial planner with Wells Fargo, and John Mitchell, an insurance agent with Horace Mann Insurance, will share strategies on banking, credit, insurance coverage, student loan debt, debt forgiveness and retirement.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will sponsor free cab rides on St. Patrick’s Day to curb drunken driving.

SoberRide will be in Prince William, Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington counties, as well as the District, from 4 p.m. March 17 to 4 a.m. March 18.
