A woman died days after an accident in Silver Spring, where two vehicles struck her while she walked in a marked crosswalk, Montgomery County police said Monday.

The woman, identified by authorities as 26-year-old Beza K. Mesfin of Silver Spring, succumbed to her injuries Sunday.

Police said the accident happened around 7:55 a.m. Friday in the area of East Randolph Road and Tourmaline Court. Investigators believe Mesfin was walking across East Randolph in a southbound direction when, for unknown reasons, a 2005 Ford Taurus and a 2005 Honda Pilot heading east collided with her, said authorities.

The driver of the Taurus, a 55-year-old Rockville woman, and the driver of the Pilot, a 49-year-old Silver Spring man, were not injured in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation, a department press release said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the collision contact the Montgomery County Police Department’s collision reconstruction unit at (240) 773-6620.
