During Landon’s undefeated run to its first Mid-Atlantic Prep Hockey League championship in 2011, the Bears’ middle school team made a habit of sticking around the rink after practice to watch the varsity. After learning the basics of the game in elementary school, Concannon lost interest and quit playing hockey. But when the middle school team needed a back-up goaltender, he was coaxed into joining. “Jack played unbelievable in that game. In a 7-4 loss to No. 4 Gonzaga (20-9-4) on Jan. 8, Landon led 4-2 after two periods before the Eagles ripped off four power play goals in a dominant final period. “We came into the first Gonzaga game scared. I’d never beaten Gonzaga before in my high school career, so they were this giant hockey powerhouse that we didn’t have to face in last year’s playoffs because we got lucky,” senior defenseman Ben Gilbert said. “Before the championship game, we talked about how they’re the ones who should be scared. “I know a few of those younger kids because I see them at every game.
