Police in Fairfax County said an 83-year-old man died after suffering upper body trauma. Fairfax County police are investigating the overnight death of an 83-year-old man from the Lorton area as a homicide.
The incident happened early Friday in the 6000 block of River Drive in Lorton. Police said they are investigating it as a homicide. The man was later identified as Johan De Leede. Johan De Leede was found suffering from upper body trauma in a home in the 6000 block of River Drive in Lorton shortly after 1 a.m., police said. Officers were initially called for a report of an unresponsive man but also received a second call from the area reporting the sound of gunshots, police said.
De Leede was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police used K-9 units and a helicopter to sweep the area for the killer, but didn’t find anyone. Police asked residents to remain indoors while they investigated, but have now cleared the area. Detectives were interviewing family members and neighbors.
Police have not released a motive for the killing and said they are still investigating possible suspects.
