The mosque that was near Friday’s blast is led by an imam whom Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has harshly criticized for adherence to doctrines of the Salafi sect, in contrast to the Sufi Islam that is experiencing a revival in Chechnya under Kadyrov.
