Police seek two after report of attempted abduction from a Smithsonian museum
Version 0 of 1. Authorities released video footage Tuesday showing two men who are being sought as persons of interest in a reported attempted abduction at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. The incident happened March 3 as a group was leaving the north entrance of the museum, according to the U.S. Park Police. A man allegedly grabbed the hand of a child in the group. As the man walked “a few steps with the child,” police said one of the chaperons noticed and yelled at the man to “leave the child alone.” Police said the man then left the museum and got on a white shuttle bus in the 600 block of Jefferson Drive SW. One of the men is described only as white, with brown hair, and is said to speak with an accent. The other man is also described only as white, with gray hair, and heavyset, according to descriptions from the police. Authorities said they are asking any bus companies that had a pickup or dropoff between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on that day for information. Anyone with information in the case can call 202-610-8737. |
