Tests after head found on beach Police find second hand on beach

A forensic examination of the human head and hand which were found on the beach in Arbroath is to continue. A second hand has been found by officers searching Arbroath beach, police have revealed.
Two young sisters discovered the woman's head in a plastic bag on the Angus beach on Tuesday morning. A woman's head was found in a plastic bag on the beach on Tuesday, followed by the discovery of the first hand.
The head and a hand, which was found 50 yards away, were later taken from the beach for further tests. The head was found by two young sisters who had been playing on the beach in Angus.
Police and forensics officers will be searching the beachfront again from early morning. Efforts to identify the woman are also continuing. An intense police search was launched after the discovery. It is due to resume later on Wednesday morning following high tide.
Police said she did not match the records of any local missing person.
The Tayside force is liaising with every other UK police force in a bid to find her identity.
As many as 40 officers were involved in searching the stony beach on Tuesday.
Det Ch Insp Graham McMillan, who is leading the investigation, said: "We will shortly be conducting a more detailed examination of the body parts which will be a fairly painstaking process."
He said the children who found the remains were "fairly upset" and were being cared for by their parents at home.
