Authorities in Fauquier County said they are looking for a Toyota pickup truck that is believed to be involved in an early Friday morning shooting.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Bastable Mill and Old Dumfries roads. According to authorities, a 21-year-old man said that while driving his vehicle, he was approached from behind by a truck that was driving fast.

The truck tried to pass the man’s car and drove aggressively, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office.

As the man turned at a stop sign, one of the windows on his vehicle shattered. He then realized a man in the pickup was pointing a handgun out of his window, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said the man tried to follow the pickup but lost sight of it.

After an investigation, officials said, they found that the man shot at the victim at least twice with a gun.

The incident remains under investigation.

Sheriff deputies said they are looking for a tan-colored Toyota Tacoma truck or one similar to that type with oversize tires. The driver of the truck is described as being a white man with short, dark hair who was wearing a dark colored T-shirt. He was armed with a silver handgun.
