A motorcyclist was critically injured Friday afternoon after a collision with a Metrobus on a busy street in Southeast Washington, police and transit officials said.

The accident happened near the intersection of 16th Street and Good Hope Road SE around 3:45 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a police department spokesman.

The motorcycle rear-ended a W8 route Metrobus as it was traveling westbound on Good Hope Road headed to the Anacostia Metro station, said Morgan Dye, a Metro spokeswoman.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, Carew said, but officials did not immediately release information about the driver’s age, gender or condition.
