D.C. police release body camera video showing arrest at gunpoint
Version 0 of 1. District authorities on Friday released police body camera video showing an officer rushing to arrest a man who they say was robbing a person at knife-point in an alley in Southeast Washington. The video is recording as the officer drives to the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, and jumps from his cruiser. The incident occurred about 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday. [Watch police body camera video of arrest] The officer is seen rushing to confront the suspect who has his back to him. The officer points his gun at the man, who slowly turns around and raises his hands. The knife is later seen on the ground. Police said they charged Christopher Alexander Galloway, 48, of Southeast, with assault with intent to commit robbery. Many officers in two of D.C.’s police districts have been wearing body cameras for months as part of a pilot program. That program is set to expand to all uniform officers in a few months after new training. |
