Ipswich bungalow fire kills man in 80s and seriously injures another

An elderly man has died and another has been seriously injured in a bungalow fire.

Four fire crews were called to Fuchsia Lane, off Foxhall Road in Ipswich, just after 01:00 BST when a neighbour saw flames coming from a window.

Two men were pulled from the building, one of whom had gone into cardiac arrest and had his heart restarted.

Suffolk Police said a man in his 80s died in hospital and a second man was in a serious condition.

He is being treated at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, a force spokeswoman added.

The East of England Ambulance Service said it sent an officer, three crews and a hazardous area response team to the house, which was badly damaged.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was investigating the blaze along with police officers.
