He had a job for him: murder his wife and make it look like a robbery gone bad at his home on Polished Pebble Way in Laurel. Price: $15,000. |
But it turned out that the man Aafaq Manejwala met was an undercover detective, police say, and now he has been arrested and charged with solicitation of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
According to Howard County police, they received a tip that Manejwala was looking for someone who would be “willing to kill his wife for money.” With an informant’s help, Manejwala and the undercover detective were introduced.
When the undercover officer asked if he wanted his wife to suffer, according to court documents, Manejwala said: “Just end it.”
During the meetings, Manejwala showed the officer his Laurel neighborhood, police said. He pointed to his house and showed the undercover officer a video that displayed the interior of his home. And showed the detective a photo of his wife.
On Tuesday, Manejwala met with the officer and paid him $100, according to court documents. He said he would give another payment later in the week.
Authorities then took Manejwala into custody and charged him. He is being held without bond at the Howard County jail.
