Denmark has topped the table of most networked economies from the World Economic Forum (WEF).

It was followed for the second year running by Sweden, with Switzerland going up two places into third.

WEF measures how prepared countries are to use information and communication technology (ICT) as well as quality of infrastructure and current usage.

The big improvers include South Korea, which rose 10 places to ninth and the US, which rose three places to fourth.

Europe dominates the list with 11 of the top 20, including all of the top three.

The United Kingdom came in at number 12.

"The successful experience of the Nordic countries, Singapore, the United States or Korea shows that a coherent government vision on the importance of ICT, coupled with an early focus on education and innovation, are key," said Irene Mia, the report's co-editor.

The report looked at the network readiness of 127 countries.
