(about 2 hours later)
Firefighters in Prince George’s County said they are dealing with a two-alarm fire where there are reports of people being trapped. Authorities said no one was injured Wednesday during a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex.
Little information was immediately available, and it was not known if anyone was seriously injured. Initial reports were that people may have been trapped in the building, and firefighters did assist some residents in getting out of the building 5000 block of Silver Hill Court in District Heights.
Officials said on Twitter that the fire happened in the 5000 block of Silver Hill Court in District Heights. There was a report of heavy smoke, and the building was being evacuated. Roughly 75 firefighters responded to the blaze around 11 a.m. The fire was quickly put out, officials said in a Twitter feed.
Some officials in Montgomery County were helping to handle questions about the blaze because fire officials in Prince George’s were at the funeral of one of their firefighters.
The building was evacuated and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
