Some of the crowd were determined to cause trouble at an FA Cup game which left an official in hospital after he was hit by a coin, say police. A football club has condemned the "moronic" actions of a supporter who threw a coin at an FA Cup match official and put him in hospital.
Fourth official Alan Sheffield was stretchered off at the Newport-Swansea match after being knocked unconscious. Newport County said it expected to be "severely punished," and appealed to fans to identify the guilty.
Gwent Police said some fans left the game early to create problems, and officers tackled the trouble "firmly". Gwent Police said some of the crowd were determined to cause trouble at the Welsh derby game with Swansea City.
