Version 0 of 1.

A former company manager who embezzled almost £250,000 has been given probation rather than a jail sentence.

Crawford Hendy, 48, took the money while working as branch manager of Fritz Companies - for home renovations.

Hendy, of Sauchen, Aberdeenshire, was forced to sell his home to repay the stolen money, and lost his job.

He admitted the theft and received two years probation and 300 hours of community service at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

The offence - involving £245,764 - was committed on or between July 1997 and September 2003.
