The council has approached the person believed to be responsible for the prank and asked them not to change the sign again, the spokesman said. Councillor Stephen Woodliffe said it costs the council £100 to replace the sign each time, and was "wasting people's money".
The sign has been changed back to its correct name at the council's expense. "It could put someone's life at risk by changing the name of the road," he added.
The council has asked whoever is responsible to stop changing the sign.
