Pop star Kylie Minogue was joined on stage by U2 frontman Bono during the second night of her comeback tour.

They duetted on a version of the hit single Kids, which Minogue originally performed with Robbie Williams in 2000.

The pop star resumed her Showgirl world tour in Sydney on Friday. It had been postponed since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005.

Minogue, 38, will play 20 concerts in her native Australia before the tour reaches the UK in January next year.

On the first night, an emotional Minogue held back tears as she thanked fans for their support.

The comeback felt like a carnival, full of sequins, shocking pink feather boas, and pink cowboy hats First night review

"I have thought about this moment for a long time," she told the cheering audience.

"And I tried to practice in my head what I was going to say - [but] I couldn't prepare anything, I really couldn't."

Stressful changes

The tour has changed significantly from last year's Showgirl concerts because Minogue is not yet fully fit.

Kylie began the concert with Better The Devil You Know"I'm as prepared as I can be but I'm not sure that I'll be able to do everything that I did before," she told reporters last week.

"Not that I do an enormous amount of jumping all over the stage, but quick changes are really stressful."

Despite her worries, the star puts on an energetic performance, and manages to squeeze into a variety of costumes designed by fashion icons such as Dolce e Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld, Emilio Pucci and John Galliano.

The concert features hits from her 20-year-long pop career, including In Your Eyes, Shocked, and Better The Devil You Know - which opened the show.

She also premiered a new song, White Diamond, co-written with the US dance act, Scissor Sisters.

She had surgery in Australia within days of the diagnosis, and completed chemotherapy in December 2005. She still receives treatment to prevent a return of the cancer.

The pop star first found fame as an actress in the 1980s, starring as car mechanic Charlene in the popular soap opera Neighbours.

She launched her pop career in Australia with a cover version of Little Eva's The Locomotion, and has since scored 37 hit singles in the UK.

She currently lives in Paris with actor Olivier Martinez.
