(about 4 hours later) | |
Detectives have appealed to an on-the-run suspect to give himself up following a shooting that left one man dead and another injured.
Charlie Broadway, 23, poses a risk to the public and should not be approached, following the incident on Thursday night, Avon and Somerset police said.
Detectives said two men were shot at Chubbards Cross caravan park, near Ilton, north of Ilminster, Somerset, shortly before 8pm.
A man in his 50s died at the scene and a second man – in his 20s – suffered “non-life-threatening” injuries.
Two people, including a 28-year-old man, were arrested in connection with the incident and remained in police custody.
Police mobilised firearms officers, force helicopter and a large number of other officers to locate the fugitive.
Det Supt Andy Bevan, head of the major crime investigation team, said: “We would like to reassure local communities that this was a domestic incident, contained to one site.
“All those involved were known to each other.
“We’re using every resource available to us, including the helicopter, to locate and arrest Charlie Broadway but I would appeal directly to him to hand himself in now.
“We don’t believe that he poses a significant risk to the wider community but anyone who sees him should not approach him but call us immediately on 999.
“We have arrested a man and a woman in connection with this inquiry and they remain in custody.
“Anyone wishing to report any sightings of Charlie Broadway should contact us immediately via 999, quoting log number 1051 of May 5.” |
