Version 0 of 1.

Two people are seriously ill after a crash on a motorway that left another five people injured.

The multiple-vehicle accident, on the M6 motorway in Staffordshire, happened near the scene of another crash earlier this year that left four people dead.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, close to the junction for the M6 Toll at Cannock, on Sunday evening.

One man, who suffered serious spinal injuries, was airlifted to hospital. A woman sustained serious chest wounds.

The crash happened at about 1800 GMT, according to West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The injured man was taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, while the seriously injured woman was taken to University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

Five other people were also taken to hospital after suffering a range of injuries, none of which are thought to be life-threatening.

In September this year four people died in an accident, involving eight cars, two lorries and a van, that took place close to the scene.
