Canterbury murder probe after decomposed body in tent found

The body of a man thought to have died about nine months ago has been found in a tent, prompting a murder inquiry.

The man, who is believed to have been aged in his 60s, was found on land off Ten Perch Road, in Canterbury, Kent, on 25 April.

The decomposed remains were discovered by a member of the public, and police were making efforts to identify him.

A 26-year-old man from Eltham has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Insp Tony Pledger, of Kent Police, said: "We are keen to be able to establish exactly when the man died. He may have been known by people locally."
