Woman hit and killed by car during Edinburgh police pursuit

Version 0 of 1. A woman has died after she was hit by a car being pursued by police in Edinburgh. The 33-year-old, who is understood to have been a pedestrian, was struck by the car on Old Dalkeith Road on Thursday evening. Police Scotland appealed for witnesses to the incident, which took place at around 8pm. A spokesman said: “The silver Ford Ka that was involved in the collision was being followed by a police vehicle at the time, which had blue lights and siren activated, after it failed to stop when signalled to do so by officers.” The woman’s identity was yet to be released. Police said enquiries were continuing into the circumstances of the crash. |
