A man has been found guilty of murdering his mother and her friend, who were stabbed to death at her home. A man has been jailed for 32 years for stabbing his mother and her friend to death while he was on licence after attacking his father.

Mystery stranger Judge Philippa Whipple said it was a "brutal and sustained attack".
She said: "One image that will stay in the mind of anyone involved in this case is that of the reconstruction of your mothers face showing the stamp injury attributed to your shoe on her left cheek."

He said he was stabbed in the hand in an alleyway by the stranger as he walked back from the shops. Mr Oakes, who was 60, had recently undergone treatment for cancer. He was stamped on while he was on the ground and had cuts on his hands and knuckles where he had tried to defend himself. He died the next day.
After that he went into his mother's house when he found the pair dead, he claimed. Rogers was given a 32-year minimum term. If ever released, he will be on licence for the rest of his life.
Under cross examination, he admitted he was capable of extreme violence "for no reason at all".
During the trial Rogers attacked security guards beside him in the dock, but offered an apology for his behaviour when the case resumed.
