Basingstoke driver dies after 'medical episode' at wheel

A driver involved in a crash after he is thought to have suffered a "medical episode" behind the wheel has died.

The 57-year-old man was driving a Lotus 2eleven along the A340 in Basingstoke when his car collided with a Ford Focus, police said.

It is believed he fell ill at the wheel before the crash on the Thorney Croft Roundabout at about 15:50 BST on Saturday, Hampshire Police said.

The driver was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital where he died.
