The High Street is closed each way between Acton Lane and A404 Manor Park Road. Eyewitness David Minogue said he had been walking along the street when "all of a sudden a bus ploughed across the pavement".
He said it "smashed down a traffic light pole" before crashing into the shop front.
Mr Minogue said he saw windows on the top deck being smashed so people could jump from the back of the bus to safety.
