London man charged with rape of woman in her 70s

A 46-year-old man has been charged with rape after a woman in her 70s was attacked in her own home.

Unemployed Jason Batchelor from Wallington, south London, is also accused of one count of sexual assault and one of ABH.

He is due to appear at Croydon magistrates court on Monday,

The woman, in her 70s, opened the door to her home in Purley, south London, at 7.50am on Wednesday after becoming aware of a man on her doorstep.

He wedged it open with his foot before forcing his way into the property and attacking her, police said.
