At least 44 people have been killed in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, after two bombs were set off, according to police and medical sources as cited by Reuters. It is believed over 90 people have been injured following the blasts. At least 63 people were killed in Baghdad when three bombs went off on Tuesday, according to police and medical sources cited by Reuters and AP. The blasts affected areas in the north and south of the Iraqi capital, as well as the Sadr City district.
The two blasts struck different areas. Meanwhile, a car bomb in the southern neighborhood of Al-Rasheed left six people dead, while another 21 received injuries. The blasts hit a predominantly Shiite area, while initial investigations claim the attacker was a woman. Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) said it was responsible for the deadly attacks.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks at present, though terror group Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) was responsible for bombings around Baghdad last week, which killed around 100 people. This was followed by a car bomb in the southern neighborhood of Al-Rasheed which left six people dead, while another 21 received injuries. 
These two attacks come just two days after IS launched attacks on a state cooking gas factory in the north of Baghdad, which killed 14 people and injured a further 27. A few hours later, Iraqi officials cited by Reuters said a suicide car bomb struck a crowded market in the mainly Shiite Sadr City, killing 19 and injuring 17, and bringing the total death toll in the capital up to at least 63, while over 100 people have suffered injuries. 
The IS terror group was also responsible for bombings which killed around 100 people in Baghdad last week. 
The three latest attacks come just two days after IS launched assaults on a state cooking gas factory in the north of Baghdad, which killed 14 people and injured a further 27.
