A six-year-old girl found unconscious at a house on the Isle of Wight and her father who was lying dead beside her have been named by police.
Keziah Flux-Edmonds was rushed to hospital after she was discovered at the house in Cromwell Avenue, East Cowes, on Wednesday, and died a short time later. Her father, Darren Flux-Edmonds, was already dead when he was found at the address.
The pair were discovered at around 10.10am after police were called to the house. Officers also found the bodies of two dogs at the property.
Police described the deaths as “an isolated incident” and said there was no risk to the wider community.
A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: “Investigations into the exact circumstances of the deaths are ongoing today on behalf of the coroner and postmortems are being carried out today.
“The family, who are being supported by specialist officers, has asked for privacy at this very difficult time.”
Flux-Edmonds, 44, had published a number of smiling photographs of his daughter on his Facebook page in recent months, and in one post he wrote: “Got a cuddle from my Keziah today happy moment of the day.”
Videos showed Keziah smiling as she bounced up and down on a trampoline, and helping her father take part in the ice-bucket challenge by pouring water over his head.
Flux-Edmonds had also posted a number of quotes relating to pain and separation recently. One read: “Lord, my heart hurts right now. I have no idea what I need, but you do. Please help.” Another said: “Sometimes you have to let go to see if there was anything worth holding on to.”
Tributes of flowers, cards, toys and candles have been laid at the family home.
Julia Baker-Smith, an Isle of Wight councillor who lives nearby, told the Hampshire Chronicle: “Everyone’s just in absolute shock, it’s an absolute tragedy.” |
