In April, a service was held at Truro Cathedral to pay tribute to Mr Reid which was attended by hundreds of people. The RSPCA said: "We confirm that because our Inspector Mike Reid disappeared whilst on duty at work, the HSE is investigating his disappearance.
"The RSPCA is providing assistance to the HSE and all other investigations."
Hundreds of people attended a service at Truro Cathedral in April in tribute to Mr Reid.
