Emergency crews were called to A&F Carpets in Bridge Street, Brigg, on Tuesday morning. Emergency crews tried to save the man at the family-run A&F Carpets in Bridge Street, Brigg, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters had been working alongside paramedics in a bid to release the man, who is believed to have been a contractor servicing the lift. A fire spokesman said his family was at the scene. "Very sadly they had to be told that he had died," he said.

Lift stabilised
Nick Grainger from Humberside Fire and Rescue told BBC News: "There was an individual who was trapped between the cage of the lift and the lift shaft himself."
He said crews had stabilised the lift and then reach the man to check whether he was still alive.
"Very sadly he had lost his life at that point. The family were here on scene - they initially thought he was just injured," said Mr Grainger.
"Very sadly they had to be told that he had died, so it's been so difficult for them."
