Shane began looking for his birth parents after getting their name from his adoptive mum and dad.  Just three months after they met, Shane said he realised he felt more than family love for his mum.
Despite finding Rose on Facebook, he could not contact her due to privacy settings, so messaged her son Nicholas instead.
Attaching a photo of himself, Rose said she knew immediately it was her son due to his resemblance to his dad.
She recalled: “Shane looked just like his dad. I knew instantly it was him. I replied straight away with my number and told him to call me.”
Shane’s father, John Smith, was also 15 when he was born.
After getting pregnant by accident, Rose, from Surrey, was forced to give Shane up to foster carers.
He was adopted by a couple in Manchester when he was five.
She said: “Social services said I was too young to care for baby. I was distraught.”
When Rose was finally able to launch legal action to get him back it was decided he was already settled with his new family.
Despite that, she lit candles on christening and told her other children about him, telling them that one day they would meet their older brother.
After connecting online, Darryl drove his wife 200 miles to Manchester to meet her long lost son.
After they were reunited, Shane said: “It was like we’d never been apart.”
Following their emotional meeting last October, Shane moved across the country and stayed with Rose for a few weeks, before getting his own flat.
They began to get to know each other, and found common ground in their love of karaoke, regularly spending their evenings in the local pub singing their favourite songs.
But just three months after they met, Shane realised he felt more than family love for his mum.
He said: “I’d had a few drinks and something strange came over me.
