Captain's Pond car crash referred to police watchdog

A car crash which left a man with life-threatening injuries has been referred to the police watchdog.

The car crashed at Captain's Pond, near North Walsham, at 03:00 BST, after a short pursuit by a police car.

The driver of a Peugeot 106, who is in his late teens, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries.

Norfolk Police said it has informed the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

It has also ordered a full, independent investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
