Rise in MLAs' office allowances

Office cost allowances for assembly members have been increased to more than £72,000.

The rise, from £70,000 to £72,660, is in line with inflation, according to an assembly spokesperson.

The annual allowances were boosted by the Secretary of State last year from around £47,000.

The Senior Salaries Review Body is currently examining members' pay, which is also expected to increase following devolution.
