Suspect in custody after allegedly stealing car with children still inside
Version 0 of 1. A teenager is in custody after a car was stolen with two children – one of them an 11-month-old baby – inside. A 19-year-old man was arrested by police at 1.15pm on Tuesday on suspicion of kidnapping a child. The theft took place in Enfield, north London, on Saturday 2 July. A 27-year-old woman parked her Vauxhall Astra, leaving her 12-year-old daughter and the baby inside. After she left the vehicle, a man climbed in and drove off. The young girl was able to escape, but the baby remained trapped inside. The baby was found a short while later, uninjured, on the doorstep of a house in Cheshunt, and police were called. The car was found abandoned nearby. The suspect was taken to a south London police station, where he remains in custody. |
