The knife-wielding suspect turned himself in shortly after the attack, the Japanese news agency Kyodo reports. Police responded to the Tsukui Yamayuri-en in Sagamihara at 2:30am after a caller said a man with a knife broke into the building, NHK World reports. Law enforcement officials arrested the suspect, who is reportedly 26-years-old, after he turned himself into police at 3am.
Officials said the suspect claims to be a former employee at the facility, which is located 30 kilometers (20 miles) outside the Japanese capital.
